At some point in time, most people go on or consider going on a diet. The Dukan Diet is a way to lose weight successfully but it is also an eating lifestyle for many people who want to maintain their weight loss and good health. The Dukan Diet consists of four phases: The Attack, The Cruise, The Consolidation and The Stabilization.

The Attack phase of the diet is the most stringent of all phases. This phase consists of eating as much as you desire of ALLOWED lean proteins such as fish, poultry, eggs and beef. It's important to drink 1.5 liters of water a day and consume 1.5 teaspoons of oat bran each day while moving through the phases of the diet. The Attack phase of the Dukan Diet brings rapid weight loss to most people. If you are interested to know more, take a look at Dukan Diet Review.

The next phase of the Dukan Diet is the Cruise phase. During this phase you will alternate between Pure Protein and Protein plus Vegetables. The vegetables that are added to the diet are NONE of the starchy ones such as: potatoes, corn, peas, etc. Only leafy green or salad vegetables are allowed. Most people alternate between 5 or 7 days of Pure Protein (like the Attack phase) and then 5 or 7 days of Protein plus Vegetables. This phase is continued until complete weight loss is achieved. Of course, the water and oat bran is continued during this time too.

The third phase of the Dukan Diet is started when weight loss has been achieved. This phase is called the Consolidation phase. At this time, the dieter is allowed unlimited protein and vegetables every day and 2 pieces of whole grain bread and a small fruit each day too along with the water and oat bran on a daily basis. This phase lets the dieter eat a more regular maintenance diet for everyday living. If the guidelines are followed, weight loss should be maintained.

The fourth and final stage of the Dukan Diet is the Stabilization Phase. During this maintenance phase, a commitment of 3 tablespoons of oat bran a day is required along with a free diet of eating healthfully but without any guidelines or limits. The only requirement is that one day a week, the Pure Protein, Phase One stage of this diet is followed. It's recommended that you follow this Pure Protein phase on a set day of each week for consistency.

Many people have had great success following the Dukan Diet. It's a healthy, easy to follow way of eating that can bring great weight loss. The maintenance phase of this diet makes it easy for one to continue to keep the weight off while having the freedom to eat a variety of foods. For more info, visit Dukan Diet Review.
